Helping the Next Generation Build Unshakable Confidence
I was sitting on a STEM panel for high school girls, answering questions about careers and breaking barriers, when a student asked:
“What advice would you give your younger self?”
I paused. Not because I didn’t have an answer, but because I knew why she was asking.
The truth is, I would have told myself:
"You are more capable than you think. Stop doubting yourself. Do it for the plot—take up space, be bold, and believe in yourself.”
But what struck me was why so many of these girls needed to hear that message in the first place.
The Research Is Clear:
Girls are just as capable as boys in STEM fields.
The gap isn’t in ability—it’s in confidence.
Limiting beliefs start forming early, shaping self-perception for years.
By the time they’re teenagers, these beliefs have already taken root.
I kept thinking: What if we could reach kids earlier?
That moment inspired me to write Charlie and the Funky Monkeys Challenge, a children’s book designed to empower young minds, challenge gender stereotypes, and build confidence from the start.
raising the next generation with heart and science
Why This Mission Matters
I’ve spent my career studying how people learn, grow, and develop confidence. With a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology and a Master’s in cognitive development, I’ve researched the science behind how beliefs shape our potential. As a lifelong learner, career coach, and former professor, I’ve worked with students and professionals seeking to overcome their own limiting beliefs.
And as a mother of girl/boy twins, I see firsthand how early messages shape confidence. I want my daughter, and every girl, to know that she belongs in any room, on any stage, and at any table.
But I also want my son to be part of this story. Empowering girls isn’t just about girls—it’s about changing the entire narrative for future generations.
