From Vision Boards to Identity: Why I Created a Vision Video

A short, inspirational vision video set to instrumental music, featuring reflective video clips and imagery that evoke presence, intention, and personal alignment. Created by Michelle Schreiner.

For the past three years, I’ve created a vision board.

Each one reflected real hopes, real dreams, real intentions. They were meaningful and aspirational — and they served me well for a season.

But this year, something shifted.

Instead of asking myself “What do I want to do?”
I felt drawn to a different question:

Who am I becoming?

I wanted to approach intention-setting from an identity-first place — not from a checklist of goals, but from a way of being. From presence. From alignment.

That curiosity led me to create something new: a Vision Video.

A practice rooted in presence

I watch this video every morning.

Not to motivate myself to do more.
Not to push or perform or optimize the day ahead.

I watch it to tune in.

The process of creating it was surprisingly joyful. Choosing music. Pairing it with video clips. Letting imagery and sound carry meaning without needing to explain or justify anything.

The combination of music and visuals sparks energy and enthusiasm in the present moment. Not someday. Not when I arrive. Now.

And perhaps most importantly, it grounds me.

The video doesn’t ask me to become someone else.
It doesn’t highlight what’s missing or what needs fixing.

Instead, it helps me hold space for who I already am — and who I am meant to become.

From striving to remembering

What I’ve come to appreciate most about this practice is how gentle it is.

It’s less about striving.
More about remembering.

Remembering what matters.
Remembering how I want to show up.
Remembering that identity comes before action — not the other way around.

This small daily ritual has subtly changed how I relate to my intentions. It’s no longer about chasing a future version of myself. It’s about embodying alignment now, and letting everything else follow from there.

Why I’m sharing this

I’m sharing this because this evolution — from vision boards to identity — has felt meaningful for me. And perhaps it offers a soft reframe for you, too.

What if visioning wasn’t about doing more…
but about being more fully yourself?

If you feel called to reflect alongside this, you might gently ask yourself:

  • Who am I being — before I try to become anything else?

  • What helps me remember that version of myself?

Thank you for being here. 🌿
